He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Gitz and Appie Vohlken Gitz; his wife Margaret May Metz; his children, John Jay Gitz (Debra), Linda Garnhart (Rick), Becky Finkenbinder (John) and Stephen Gitz (Lorrie); and his grandchildren, Scott Gitz, Timothy Gitz, Andrew Garnhart, Christina Garnhart Mesker, John Paul Finkenbinder, Lori Finkenbinder Lents, Leslie Gitz, Derek Kimes, David Gitz and Brittany Kimes. He was also cherished by 13 great grandchildren.
