With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Jane Mellnick (Freeport, Illinois), who passed away on June 16, 2023 at the age of 93. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

She was predeceased by: her parents, Clement Michel and Mildred Michel (Myers); and her grandson Adam Smith. She is survived by: her husband Tillman C. Smith; her children, Michele Davis (late Steve) of Freeport, Teresa Rockey of Juda, Kevin Smith (Deborah) of Freeport, Michael Smith (Karen) of Stockton, Colleen Meinders (Marty) of Freeport, Patrick Smith (Cindy) of Stockton, Mark Smith of Freeport and Mary Kay Smith (Todd Block) of Lena, Illinois; and her siblings, Mary Barbaro of Concord, Mass, Jeron Michel (Sharon) of Naples and William Michel (Becky) of Princeville, Illinois. She is also survived by 28 grandchildren, 46 great- grandchildren, and 12 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in her memory for the Freeport Catholic Schools.
