He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Quintero and Viola Quintero (Winters); his siblings, Mary, Ruth, Joyce, Delores, Benny, Jim and Raymond; and his grandson Karl Schoenhard.

He is survived by: his children, Anna Tipton (Russ), Teresa Wenger (Rick Janicke), Angela Schoonhoven (Dennis), Amanda Bamberg (Justin) and Dwayne Quintero (Carrie); his close friend Katherine Bender (Tootie); and his brother Ronald Quintero (Peanuts). He is also survived by 13 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, 5 great- great-grandchildren.

A memorial has been established in his name at Immanuel Lutheran Church.
