He was predeceased by: his parents, Conrad Simler and Wilhelmina Simler (Meier); his friend Edith Simler; his brothers, Albert Simler, Earl Simler and Stanley Simler; his grandson Eric A. Ramage; and his daughter-in-law Kelly Simler.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Simler of Freeport and Gwen Ramage (Eric) of Freeport; his grandchildren, Heather Simler of Freeport, Katherine Thurmond (Ira) of Freeport, Marybeth Simler of Freeport, Rachel Ramage of Freeport and Ryan Ramage; and his great grandchildren, Roxanne Bushey and Miles Thurmond IV.
A memorial has been established in his name for FHN Hospice.
