He was predeceased by: his parents, Conrad Simler and Wilhelmina Simler (Meier); his friend Edith Simler; his brothers, Albert Simler, Earl Simler and Stanley Simler; his grandson Eric A. Ramage; and his daughter-in-law Kelly Simler.
He is survived by: his children, Mark Simler of Freeport and Gwen Ramage (Eric) of Freeport; his grandchildren, Heather Simler of Freeport, Katherine Thurmond (Ira) of Freeport, Marybeth Simler of Freeport, Rachel Ramage of Freeport and Ryan Ramage; and his great grandchildren, Roxanne Bushey and Miles Thurmond IV.
Visitation was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Walker Mortuary, Ltd. (321 W Main St, Freeport, IL 61032). A funeral service was held on Friday, November 29th 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at the same location.
A memorial has been established in his name for FHN Hospice.
