It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Ferne E. Brokhausen of Freeport, Illinois, who passed away on February 19, 2023, at the age of 96, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, George Salter and Florence Salter (Lake); her husband Lawrence Brokhausen; her siblings, George, Orville Salter (Karen) and Roselind Neidigh (Robert); her son Kenneth Brokhausen; her brothers, Lester (Joyce Brokhausen) and Valery (Max Floerke); and her nephew Ron Floerke.
She is survived by: her daughter-in-law Alice Brokhausen of Kansas City; her nieces and nephews, Ed Salter (Linda) of Janesville, WI, Dorothy Wells (Jim) of Monroe, WI, Larry Salter of San Jose, CA, Ellie Weaver (Lee) of Rockford, Colleen Kappes of Stockton, IL, Jodi Feiner (Larry) of Freeport, IL, Troy Salter of Freeport, IL, Jim Brokhausen (Kathy) of Freeport, IL, Sue Conkling of Freeport, IL, Dennis Brokhausen (Christina) of Dakota, IL, JoAnn Floerke of Freeport, IL, Cheryl Pyper (Steve) of Dakota, IL, Janice Burris of Rockford, IL and Ray Floerke (Melissa) of Florida; her grandchildren, Tammy Riddell (Scott) of Freeport, IL, Thomas McNett (Lindsey) of Fulton, WI, Shawn Brokhausen of Kansas City, Amanda Jankowski (Douglas) and Cassandra Streed (Mark) of Rockford, IL; her great grandchildren, Andrew Madison (Amanda), Spencer Brandon (Cierra), Taylor, Liam, Nicholas and Ryan; her great great grandchildren, Ava, Aurora, Azalea, Aria and Cassius; and her daughter Karen Brose (Zion Church).
A memorial fund has been established in her name for Zion Church.
