With heavy hearts, we announce the death of David J. Berning of Freeport, Illinois, born in Hazel Green, Wisconsin, who passed away on July 6, 2024 at the age of 81. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Berning and Mary Ellen Berning (Heitkamp); his parents-in-law, Leon and June Pfohl; his brother Daniel Berning; his brothers-in-law, Leonard Pfohl, Maury Tobin, Jim Weber, Delbert Schulting and Roger Furlong; and his son-in-law James Harrick.
He is survived by: his wife Marie Pfohl; his children, Greggory Berning (Brenda), Laura Mack (Kelly), Mark Berning (Andrea), Marsha Berning, Eric Berning (Jill), Matthew Berning (Jen) and Amy Harrick; his grandchildren, Geoffrey, Vanessa, Samantha, Jacob, Grace, Maia, Ava, Lucas, Christopher, Thomas, Dominic, Bryson, Mason, Ryan, Hannah and Holland; and also, Charles Berning (Phyllis), Marty Berning (Sheri), Carol Weber, Joanne Tobin, Mary Austin (Phil), Doris Berning, Eugene Pfohl (Janice), Alan Pfohl (Heather), Ruth Kemp (Thomas), Elaine Schulting, Linda Furlong, Janie Landsaw (Austin) and Wanda Mueller (Rick). He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren.
A memorial has been established in David's memory.
