He was predeceased by: his parents, Daniel B. Harkness and Jessie R. Harkness (Smith); his sisters, Janette Schaal (Stan) of Littleton, CO. and Betty Harkness; his parents-in-law, Willis and Alma Deininger; his siblings-in-law, Les, Bill Deininger of Galena, Kenny Flack of East Dubuque and Carolyn Deininger of Galena; his niece Karen Schaal Quinn of Englewood, CO; his nephews, Steve and Paul Deininger; his great-nephew Chad Bautsch; and his great-niece Amanda Deininger.
He is survived by: his wife Rose Anne Deininger; his son Brian Harkness (Sara) of Rockford; his granddaughters, Gracie and Kathryn; his sons, Bradley Harkness of Winnebago and Daniel Harkness (Courtney) of Kirkland; his grandsons, Oliver and Dylan; his son David Harkness (Wende Leverton) of Chicago; his niece Jeannine Schaal of Denver Colorado; and his great-niece Lisa Robinson.
In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be directed towards the All Veterans Memorial Park of Stephenson County or the Shriner's Hospital.
