He was predeceased by: his father Orville (Ruth S.); and his son Brian Groth. He is survived by: his wife Pat; his daughter Cheryl Groth; his siblings, Roger Groth (Bev), Edward Groth (Carol) and Charlotte Kuhl (Randy); and his brother-in-law Emil Kromat (Cecelia). He is also survived by many aunts, uncle, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the family, St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Freeburg, IL, St. Louis Shriners Hospital or Hospice of Southern Illinois.
