He was predeceased by: his wife Artha Kesting; and his parents, John Scherf and Helen Scherf (Netzel). He is survived by: his daughters, Corin Forster (Peter) of Aukland and Cayla Scherf (Derek Weikle) of St. Louis, MO; his siblings, Robert Scherf (Molly) of Washington, DC and Sherry Drilling of Atlanta, GA; and his grandchildren, Talia and Jaden Forster.
Memorials in Richard's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society.
