He was predeceased by: his father John J. (Arlene E.); and his brother-in-law James Wessel. He is survived by: his wife Janet Kay Zimmermann; his children, Jeffrey Zimmermann and Jodi Krauss (Shane); his grandchildren, Mason, Ian Zimmermann and Breanna Krauss; his sisters, Marion Wessel and Dianne Zimmermann; and his siblings-in-law, Richard and Jeanne Whiting. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois, the American Cancer Society, or in the form of masses.
