He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John William Gray Sr. and Ellen Louise Gray (Carnagey); his wife Linda Farmer; his daughters, Vicki Eschman (Greg) of Swansea, IL, Deborah Hamilton (Neil Sr.) of St. Clair, MO, Sharon "Shari" Wall (Andrew "Andy" Sr.) of Freeburg, IL and Patricia Hilkey (Craig Young) of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren, Bret Eschman (Ruth), Bethany Eschman (Grant Pedley), Neil Hamilton Jr., Daniel Hamilton, Kaitlyn Hauther (Alex), Kendra Ross (Colby), Kari Zipfel (David), Andrew Wall Jr. (Shannon), Jacob Hilkey, Jessica Hilkey and Holly Hilkey; his siblings-in-law, Ronald, Sandra Payne and Geralyn Farmer; his cousin Donna Gay (David); and his pet Nellie. He was also cherished by many nieces, nephews, and loving friends.

Memorial donations may be made to Union United Methodist Church in Belleville, IL, where John and Linda were longtime members.
