David Bush Obituary
We are sad to announce that on February 27, 2018 we had to say goodbye to David Bush (Freeburg, Illinois), born in Washington, Indiana. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
A former resident of Freeburg, Illinois, he graduated from Freeburg Community High School in 1963, and at 6'10", helped lead the mighty Midgets basketball team to a first place finish in the District Tournament and Cahokia Conference that same year. Dave attended Centenary College in Shreveport, LA. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum Company for 33 years. He worked his way up to Maintenance Supervisor, a career that took him from Illinois, to Norway, to Texas, and finally to Kansas where he retired. Through the years he enjoyed building and rebuilding a variety of vehicles, tinkering in his garage, target shooting, attending local buckskinner rendezvous, and riding his motorcycle. He was a member of Community Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ponca City, where he found his faith again through the love and care of the congregation. He was preced in death by his parents, James E. and mary Alline Bush of Washington, IN, and his younger brother, james G. Bush. Surviving are his wife of 24 years, Lou Ann (Meinhardt) Bush of Ponca City, OK, daughter, Nicole Breining, son-in-law, Brent, and grandson, Joshua, of Alexandria, VA, daughter, Kirsten Bush, and grandson, Tony Thornton, Houston, TX, and his daughter's mother, Karen (Brueggemann Bush) Thurig of Belleville, IL, stepson, George Meinhardt of Ponca City, OK/Salina, KS, stepson, Adam Meinhardt (partner, Jeanette Altevogt), and grandsons, Sam and Charlie Altevogt of American Fork, UT. The family requests that, in lieu of flowers, donations in Dave's name be made to either Hopsice of North Central Oklahoma, 445 Fairview, Ponca City, OK 74601, or Community Christian Church, 2109 West Grand, Ponca City, OK 74601. Dave's presence will be missed by all those who knew and loved him. May he rest in peace.
