He was predeceased by: his parents, Wilbert D. Alwerdt and Ruth E. Kochman Alwerdt; his brother Douglas Alwerdt; his nephew Cody Alwerdt; and his brothers-in-law, Steven and Jeffrey Uber.
He is survived by: his wife Susan Uber; his children, Jessica Wilcox (Gregory) and Jeremiah Alwerdt (Melissa); his granddaughters, Hayden Alwerdt, Kaitlyn Alwerdt, Emily Wilcox, Elizabeth Wilcox and Evelyn Wilcox; his brother David Alwerdt (Manon); his nieces, Krista Alwerdt, Amanda Uber, Brittany DePhillips (Michael), Michelle Uber, Cathy Uber and Mary Phelps (Arly); his nephew Jeffrey Dale Uber; and his siblings-in-law, Kevin Uber (Edith), Loretta Sue Uber and Teresa Uber.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Cancer Center or the University of Iowa Holden Cancer Center.
