He was predeceased by: his parents, Alex Stec and Kathryn Stec (Slaga); and his wife Karen Stec (Manis). He is survived by: his children, Nicolle Marinec (Paul) and Paul Justin Stec (Dara Jenthanomma); his grandchildren, Sebastian Marinec, Magdalena Marinec and Cameron Stec; and his sisters, Kathleen Polivka, Theresa Krembuszewski (Joseph) and Diane Mackowiak (John). He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
