He was predeceased by: his mother Ann Wirtz, Sr. (Mullins); and his sister Jean Wirtz. He is survived by: his father Edward H. Wirtz,; his wife Jacqueline L. White; his children, Kathleen Truckenbrod (Scott), Elizabeth Pruitt (Randy) and Scott Wirtz (Jeanne); his grandchildren, Kassidy Conroy (Mark), Shelby, Colby, Keeley Truckenbrod, Dakota (Morgan), Caden (Lexie) and Delaney Pruitt; his great grandchildren, Sullivan, Beatrice and Lucille Pruitt; and his siblings, Joan Zega (late Ronald), James Wirtz (Sharon) and Marion Miller (Richard). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
