It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Elgar Schmelzle (Fowler, Illinois), born in Quincy, Illinois, who passed away on July 14, 2019, at the age of 76, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Alvin Schmelzle and Mary Agnes Schmelzle (Bockenfeld). He is survived by: his children, Bill Schmelzle (Anastacia), Renee Mitchell (Tim) of Quincy and Tim Schmelzle of Springfield, IL; his sister Alicia Blewett (Kenneth) of Liberty; his grandchildren, Chris Schmelzle (Lacey), Heather Frans (Jeff), Ryan Schmelzle, Matt Nation, Christina Leavey (Scott), Ryan Nation and Jack Mitchell; and his friend David Voorhis. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to the Refuge Ranch Equine Rescue, Springfield, IL.
