She was predeceased by: her parents, John Hughes and Hattie Hughes; her husband L'Vernon Gaiter; her son Hershel Vernon Gaiter; and her siblings, Maggie, Ethel, Christine, Cora, Stella, Alfreddie, Elizabeth, Carol, Marvin, Willie, Jeff, Pete and Ernest.
She is survived by: her children, Harriet, Glenda, Patricia, Sheila, Althea, Monica, Ivonee and Felix; and her grandson Marcus Corey Gaiter.
