He was predeceased by: his mother Laurel Marie Childers (Webster); his siblings, Norma Henson (Edwin), Rosemary Elmore (Merle), Robert Childers, Charles Childers and Webster Leroy; his parents-in-law, Kerney and Alice Thomas; and his siblings-in-law, Clifford Thomas, Genelle Henderson (Pearl), John Thomas (Pud), Tommie Thomas (Maxine), Betty Thomas, Halene Boudreau, Lela Michels (Albert), Joyce Powell (Elmo), Wesley Hickenbottom and Patty Thomas.
He is survived by: his father Oscar Childers; his wife Alice Childers of Flora; his children, Nancy Dehart (Jeff) of Flora and Randy Childers of Flora; his granddaughter Katy Smith (Nathan) of Flora; his great grandchildren, Lucy and Oliver Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Beverly Childers of Flora, Joyce Childers of Colorado, Jimmie Thomas (Della) of Clay City, Sherman Thomas of Flora and Ellory Thomas (Marie) of Louisville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM at the Frank & Bright Funeral Home (500 N Main St, Flora, IL 62839). A funeral service was held on Friday, December 13th 2024 at 5:00 PM at the same location.
Memorial donations are suggested for an education fund for Lucy and Oliver Smith and will be accepted at the funeral home.
