It is with great sadness that we announce the death of John Newby Sr. of Flora, Illinois, who passed away on July 28, 2024, at the age of 71, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, William Halbert and Marjorie Evelyn Newby Sr. (Winchester); his wife Patricia Lynn Eckel; his brother William H. Newby Jr.; and his niece Crystal Lynn Newby.
He is survived by: his children, Joni Thompson of Jefferson, Deah Jones (Jody Ray) of Cisne and John Newby Jr. (Brandii) of Flora; his grandchildren, Stephanie Lynn Knicley (Tyler), Kohl Guffey, Clinton Guffey and Brianna Newby; his great grandchildren, Dean Knicley, Silas Guffey, Clay Guffey and Olivia Gonzalez; his sister Karen Jones (Mark) of Flora; and his siblings-in-law, Debbie Modlin of Louisville and Richard Eckel (Brenda) of Xenia.
Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County Cancer Crusaders, and these will be accepted through the funeral home.
