He was predeceased by: his parents, Leo Hilmes and Grace Hilmes (Houser); his siblings, Henry Francis Hilmes, Robert Hilmes and Catherine Butcher; and his brothers-in-law, Xephon Butcher and Kenny Helmuth.
He is survived by: his wife Marilyn Hilmes of Flora; his daughters, Brigitte Waller (Rory) of Kalispell, MT and Gretchen Woomer of Newton; his grandchildren, Drennan Waller of Denver, CO, Cole Waller (Preslee), Dalton Hilmes (Beth) of Flora, Jonah Woomer (Lauren Allen) of Flora and Bodee Woomer of Flora; his great grandchildren, Knox Waller of Denver, CO and Judson Hilmes of Flora; and his sisters, Norma Dean (Lloyd) of Neoga and Patricia Brazier of Casey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Memorial donations are suggested to Clay County 4-H Livestock Committee and will be accepted through the funeral home.
