He was predeceased by: his parents, Lester Carls and Ida Mae Carls (Peters); his wife Connie J. Barth; his son Rodney; his brother Leslie Carls; and his siblings-in-law, David Land, Virgil Weers, Michael E. "Mick" Barth and Betty Land.
He is survived by: his children, Denise Porth (Tim) and Roger Carls; his grandchildren, Brandy Prosser (Curt), Jarad Porth (Kristen) of Arlington, TN and Andrew Horine of DeWitt, MI; his great grandchildren, Hadley and Harvey Prosser; and his sisters-in-law, Mary Weers, Janet Barth and Nancy Carls.
