He was predeceased by: his parents, Thomas Chatten and Margaret Chatten (Garlish); and his brother Gene Chatten. He is survived by: his wife Sheila Hoover; his children, Bill Chatten (Sonja) of North Carolina and Jennifer Deppermann (Brian) of Arkansas; and his brother Richard Chatten of Farmington. He is also survived by three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren.
