He was predeceased by: his parents, Helen (Strauser) and Bernhard Waidmann; and his sister Charlotte Allred (Dean). He is survived by: his wife Judy; his sister Madelyn Waidmann; and his children, Mary Hollister (Mike), Eric Waidmann (Kelley), Melvin Waidmann II (Rhonda) and Brent Waidmann (Jena). He is also survived by 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and nieces and nephews.

Visitation was held on Saturday, March 29th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints (9827 Bunkum Rd, Fairview Heights, IL 62208).
