He was predeceased by: his parents, John Mackin and Gertrude Mackin (Sommers); his wife Barbara M. Mackin (Schwartz); and his sisters, Phyllis Graham and Gloria Welch.
He is survived by: his children, John Mackin III (Dolores) of Belleville, IL, Thomas Mackin (Elizabeth) of Collinsville, IL, Charles Mackin (Pamela) of Swansea, IL and James Mackin (Tonia) of Belleville, IL; his grandchildren, John Mackin IV (Stasia), Robert Mackin (Borislava), Tyler, Benjamin Mackin, Dustin Cartwright, Andrew Dixon, Justin Shannon (Megan), Connor, Carissa Mackin, Ashlee Schwaegel (Kevin), Abigail Mackin and Nathanial Mackin; and his great grandchildren, Korie, Ellie, Liam, Greyson, Blair, Ewan, Corbin and Bianca.
