He was loved and cherished by many people including: his parents, John Byrd and Minerva Byrd; his spouse Verlyan Sykes; his children, Philip Byrd Sr (Cherie) of Granite City, IL, Patricia Andrews (Gary) of Toney, AL, Peggy Edwards (David Sr) of Springfield, IL and Donald Byrd (Kathy) of Granite City, IL; and his stepchildren, Cindy Higgins of Folsom, CA, Patrick Higgins (Robyn) of O'Fallon, MO and Michael Higgins. He was also cherished by fifteen grandchildren and twenty great-grandchildren.
