She was predeceased by: her husband Col. Francis "Frank" T. Schmitt; her parents, Sylvia Ann Wooten and James 'Grady Wooten; and her brothers, William 'David Wooten and James 'Donald Wooten of West Point, Miss..

She is survived by: her children, Amy 'Catherine Reese of Fairview Heights, Cameron Schmitt of Caseyville, Susan Knapp (Cory), Virginia 'Gina Schmitt of Breese, Laura Rogato (Leo) and Rebecca Corless (Bob) of O'Fallon; her granddaughters, Emily, Abigail, Sarah and Joanna Reese; and her children, Lucia, Naomi, Xavier, Elijah Knapp, Sabrina Rogato, Henry and Edwin Corless. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
