She was predeceased by: her parents, William Johnston and Medie Johnston (Caar); her former husbands, Cecil A. Simpson and Perry Hargrave; her husband Preceding; and her granddaughter Wendy.
She is survived by: her children, Debra Vangilder of Fairfield, Illinois and William Simpson (Judy) of Petersburg, Michigan; and her son-in-law Claude Young of Birmingham, Alabama.. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren, fifteen great-great grandchildren.
