He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles E. Scherr and Elda Mae Scherr (Elliott); and his son Dane Michael Scherr. He is survived by: his son Brent Scherr of Fairbury; his sister Linda Kuhn (Chuck) of Peoria; and his siblings-in-law, Paul Flint (Mary) of Aledo and Trudy Fagot of Fairbury.
