He was predeceased by: his mothers, Alma Witherspoon and Edna Witherspoon (Ralston); and his siblings, Lester, Nellie Lannen, Howard, Laura Evans, Vera Bolte and Robert Witherspoon.
He is survived by: his pet Ellie; his wife Phyllis Witherspoon; his son Jamie; and his daughter-in-law Stephanie Witherspoon (Waite) of Evanston, IL. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
