He was predeceased by: his parents, Weldon Garten and Vonnie Garten (Jennings); his former spouse Billie June Weir; and his wife Connie Shoemake. He is survived by: his children, Linda Curlee (Jeff) of Energy, Bradley Garten of Paris, MO and Donnie Garten of Herrin; his stepdaughters, Jeri Morthland (Rick) of Carterville and Teri Berry (Mike) of Pittsburg, IL; his grandchildren, Sam Garten, Kristy Patton (Travis), Jennifer Vaughn (Jerry Lee), Jill Pharo (Michael), Jeffrey Curlee (Lindsey), James Hanson, Dennis Hanson, Jason Hanson and Joey Myogeto; and his siblings, Jane Carver (John) of Kimmswick, MO, Sharon Horn (Paul) of Sparta and Robert Garten of Murphysboro. He is also survived by 16 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
