It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Richard Johnson (Emden, Illinois), born in Beason, Illinois, who passed away on October 12, 2020, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Carl Johnson and Maryetta Johnson (Hubbard); and his brother Paul Johnson. He is survived by: his wife Mary Ellen Watkins; his children, Patricia Backsmeier (Rodney) of Bloomington, IL, Steve Johnson (Lori) of Auburn, IL, Julie Slayton (Steve) of Fishersville, VA, Kimberly Carlock (Brent) of Bloomington, IL and Cindy Schempp (Darin) of Atlanta, IL.; his grandchildren, Adam Backsmeier (Jodie), Benjamin Backsmeier (Jennifer), Mark Backsmeier (Kate), Emily Porter (Ryan), Logan, Chelsea Williams (Jeromy), Cody Zeschke, Shelby Slayton, Mary Carlock, Jamie Carlock, Winton Carlock, Molly Schempp and Cavit Schempp; his great grandchildren, Luke, Matthew Backsmeier, Jordan Rosa, Joshua Backsmeier, Grace Backsmeier, Jayden Acevedo, Rory Porter, Chekyrah Zeschke and Oliver Williams; and his siblings, Larry Johnson and Connie Becker (Rich).
