He was predeceased by: his wife Phyllis M. Benbow; his son Dan Benbow; and his sister Sue. He is survived by: his sons, James and Ron; his stepchildren, Ronals (Jessie) and Arend Van Der Velde; and his siblings, George, Linda, Tommy, Eleanor and Joey.
