He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Flanigan and Dorothy Flanigan; his wife Ellen; his son Edward; his grandson Samuel; and his siblings, Matthew and Geraldine.
He is survived by: his children, Mark, Elizabeth Yacobi (Robert), Ellen Tynor (Robert), Kathleen Penwitt (Daniel), Patrick (Amanda), Matthew (Melissa), Maureen, Martin (Brittney), Joseph (Susan), MaryAnne and Brian; his daughter-in-law Leslee; and his sister-in-law Judith. He is also survived by twenty-four grandchildren, two great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Ed's name may be given to St. Joseph Catholic Church, 235 W. North St., Manhattan, IL 60442 in loving memory of Fr. James O'Malley, or to Joliet Area Community Hospice, 250 Waterstone Circle, Joliet, IL 60431.
