He was predeceased by: his parents, Amanda Sweeney and Leo Sweeney; his siblings, Mary Jeanne Hovel (late Bernard), Leo (late Jeanne) and Connie Sweeney; and his nephews, Stephen, John and Leo Hovel.

He is survived by: his wife Bonnie; his sibling-in-law Thomas Collins (Susan); and his nieces and nephews, Joseph, Michael, Thomas, Gregory, Mary, Jeanne, Peter, Cathy, Janis Hovel, Kelly and Albert Collins.
