He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Shurba and Josephine Shurba (Sabella). He is survived by: his wife Julie Simonelli; his children, Gina Newton (Brian) and Dom (Lisa); and his granddaughters, Ella Shurba and Chloe Newton.

Visitation was held on Thursday, December 19th 2024 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Chapel Hill Gardens West (17W201 Roosevelt Rd, Oakbrook Terrace, IL 60181). A funeral Mass was held on Friday, December 20th 2024 at 10:00 AM at the Visitation Catholic Church (779 S York St, Elmhurst, IL 60126).
