He was predeceased by: his parents, Alva "Bud" and Wilma J. Harper (Strode). He is survived by: his wife Carol Cooper; and his grandchildren, Emma, Carolyn, Haley, Aden, Curtis Chambers, Jenna Butler (Steven) and Jessa Wickert (Neal).

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Fairview Fire & Rescue Squad.
