It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Ruth Ellen Winthrop of Elkville, Illinois, born in Pinckneyville, Illinois, who passed away on June 18, 2021, at the age of 87, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Gene Gladson and Jenny Gladson (Craig); her husband Allen Winthrop (Gene); and her siblings, Craig, Bill, Frank Gladson (Pud) and Norma Van Zandt.

She is survived by: her children, Jeanne Korando (Mitch), Allen Winthrop (Jill), Lisa Winthrop (Richard Jorgenson) of Elkville and Jodi Atchison (Bobby) of Sesser; her grandchildren, Stacy Emling of DuQuoin, Mark Maple (Mandy) of Springfield, Mallory Bollinger (Jermaine), Ellie Winthrop of Elkville and Rebecca Schneider (Zach) of Fairview Heights; her great grandchildren, Wade, Elaina, Caroline Romani of DuQuoin, Gracie Maple of Springfield, Slater and Nova Bollinger of Elkville; and her siblings, Chuck Gladson (Margaret Lynn) of Pinckneyville and Sarah Williams of New Albany. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
