It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Nathan L. Barnes-Atterberry of Elkville, Illinois, who passed away on November 30, 2024, at the age of 59, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, William E. Barnes and Elizabeth M. Barnes (Prater); his stepparents, Henry M. Atterberry and Stella R. Barnes; his siblings, William E. Barnes, Jr., Richard D. Barnes, Sr. and Delilah M. Giacomo; and his daughter Rebecca "Becky" Barnes.
He is survived by: his wife Lisa Barnes-Atterberry of Elkville, IL; his daughters, Ashley Burgess (Kraig Reinitz) of Herrin, IL, Rachelle Batson (David) of Elkville, IL and Hannah Barnes-Atterberry Lauderdale (Cody) of DuQuoin, IL; his grandchildren, Taylor, Zachariah, Samual, Jordan, Abby, Kohlbe, Nathan, Gabriel, Noah, Mark and Kennedy; his sister Jennifer Peterson (Jason) of Paducah, KY; his siblings-in-law, Connie Jo Simmerman, Billie Clover, Kathy Allen (Steven), Cindy Moreland, Laura Lang and Lewis Dirden (Michelle); and his pet Lucy.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to SouthEast Cancer Center, Cape Girardeau, MO or to the family of Nathan Barnes-Atterberry.
