He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard M. Piper and Letha N. Piper (Jones); his wife Patsy Lou Coffel; and his sister Lennis Boggis. He is survived by: his children, Gerald D. "Toog" Piper, Jr. (Lonnie) of Oklahoma City, OK, Kevin Piper (Marilyn) of Elkville and Tish McDermott (James) of Apex, NC; his grandchildren, Leigh Reidelberger (Russell) of Belleville, Opie Piper (Shaneille) of Du Quoin, Mindy Swenson (Tarik) of Du Quoin and Dax Piper (Lauren) of Pinckneyville; and his great grandchildren, Zoey Swenson, Cooper Swenson, Parley Belle Piper, Kallahan Piper, Oakes Piper and Briggs Piper.

Friends may make memorials to Du Quoin V.F.W. Post 513 and will be accepted at the funeral home.
