He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward W. Wales Sr. and Juanita M. Wales (Thomas); his brother Charles Wales; and his wife June Ann Wales. He is survived by: his children, Jay, Aimee and John (Cherrey); his sisters, Mickey Lou Wales of Lubbock, TX and Patricia Buckelew (Terry) of Gasquet, CA; the mother of his children Ruth Wales; his children, Christopher, James (Lynn), Elizabeth DeBoer (John) and Thomas (Maggie); his stepdaughter Sandee Protzmann (Jim); and his grandchildren, Kaeley, Montgomery, Nyomi Wales, Lucy, Emily DeBoer, Sadie Wales, Matthew, Oliver Wales, Erin Whisler (Jordan), Kelly Whisler (Jake) and Derek Protzmann (Amanda).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Ed's memory to the Upper Peninsula Police Memorial or a charity of your choice.
