He is survived by: his children, Cindy Lee Valentine (Rick), Walter Richard Shales Jr. (Pat) and Kimberly Grace Higgins; his grandchildren, Walter Richard Shales III, Antoinette Mary Ugarte (David) and Cameron Higgins; his great grandchild Gavin Walter Ugarte; and his siblings, Monroe Shales (Butch), Gloria Rigoni, Norma Shales and Vickie Fiebig (Horst). He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews; and many friends.
