He was predeceased by: his parents, Martha Berna (Burren) and Mathias Berna. He is survived by: his wife Adrienne (Engdahl); his children, Christine Moeller (Doug), Ellen Myers (Steve) and John Berna (Heidi); his grandchildren, Eileen, Kate, Jack and Matt; his great grandchildren, Delaney and Brooklyn; and his sister Jacqueline Coffey. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Anderson Animal Shelter in Dick's honor.
