He was predeceased by: his parents, Susie Schick (Ifft) and Rudolph "Rudy" Schick; his wife Audrey Greve; and his sister Joyce. He is survived by: his daughters, Catherine Hurlbut (John), Christine Studt (Hans Traut) and Caroline Ellsworth (Michael); his grandchildren, John "Chip", Christopher, Emily, Jeffrey, Elaina, Kathleen, Madeline and Rosie; and his great grandchild Rory.

Donations can be made to St. John's Lutheran Church of Elgin designated for the food pantry.
