He was predeceased by: his parents, Julius Gilbert and Clara A. Gilbert Sr. (Bushnell); his parents-in-law, Louis and Kathryn Holmes; and his siblings-in-law, James Holmes, Betty Newingham (Dennis) and Anita Taylor.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Gilbert of Eldred; his daughters, Tammy (Jim Weber) and Teresa (Brad Hamilton); his grandchildren, Ryan Weber, Cody Martin, Kurtis Weber, Hunter (Bailey Hamilton), Hayden (Gianni Hamilton), Michaela (Alex Pembrook), Hendrick Hamilton and Holden Hamilton; his great grandchild Henley Noel Hamilton; his brothers, Kirby (Mary Holmes) and Zach (Donna Holmes); his sister-in-law Linda Holmes of Jerseyville; and his nephew Nick Holmes. He is also survived by great granddaughters.
