He was predeceased by: his parents, Everett Erkman and Della Erkman (Fuller); his former wife Jane Erkman (Mitchell); his son James R. Erkman, II; his siblings, J. W. Erkman and Verneta Taylor; and his grandson Steven Erkman.
He is survived by: his children, David Erkman (Kim) of California, Emily Carlson of California and Susan Erkman of New Mexico; his grandchildren, Kerith Erkman, David James Erkman, Joy Erkman, Bradley Carlson (Jill), Benjamin Carlson (Shauna), Colby Carlson (Ariel), Erin Carlson and Allen Erkman; his great grandchildren, Addison, Caleb, Aiden, Liam and Hayes; and his cousin Dixie Long of Eldorado.
In addition to flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Eldorado VFW Honor Guard fund to help with honors equipment. Donations will be accepted at the funeral home.
