He was predeceased by: his parents, William Russell and Mary A. Schmidt (Eskew); and his grandson Beau Luechtefeld. He is survived by: his former wife Kathy Bloemker; his wife Kathy Schmidt of Effingham; his daughters, Amy Schmidt (Eric Armstrong) of Effingham, Kim Schmidt of Effingham and Angie Luechtefeld (Tom) of St. Libory; his granddaughters, Brooke, Harley and Caitlyn Luechtefeld of St. Libory; and his siblings, Susan Schmidt of Effingham and Jim Schmidt of Champaign.
Memorials may be made to the First Presbyterian Church in Effingham or the ALS Association of St. Louis.
