Rodney Dean Shannon Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Rodney Dean Shannon of Effingham, Illinois, who passed away on April 16, 2025 at the age of 84. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Earnest Shannon and Abigail McCormick Shannon; and his wife Linda Diane Lee. He is survived by: his close friend Marilyn Haarmann; his children, Dr. Timothy Shannon (Janet) and Tammy Honegger (Dan) of Tampa, FL; and his siblings, Ansel Shannon (Pat) of Burlington, IA, Dyson Shannon (Leona) of East Galesburg, IL, Stanley Shannon (Linda) of Alexis, IL and Mary Alice Reeves of Alexis, IL.. He is also survived by four grandchildren, one great grandchild.
A prayer will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 at 4:30 PM at the Duffy-Pils Memorial (100 W Maple St, Fairbury, IL 61739). Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 24th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 25th 2025 at 10:30 AM at the St. Mary's Catholic Church (119 E Howard St, Pontiac, IL 61764).
The family suggests memorials be given to St. Jude Cancer Center or Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham.
