He was predeceased by: his parents, Bertram Gillum and Rosalind Gillum (Best); his son Brian Gillum; his grandson Brent Gillum; his great grandchild Avery Muhs; and his siblings, Bertram Gillum, Donald Gillum, Jerry Gillum and Shirley Gill.
He is survived by: his wife Fern Gillum of Effingham; his children, Steven Gillum (Teresa) of Effingham, Darren Gillum (Jody) of Dieterich and Keven Gillum (Tina) of Effingham; his sister Theara Sue Werschey (Michael); and his sister-in-law Kathy Gillum. He is also survived by 16 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
