It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Matilda K. Schmidt of Effingham, Illinois, who passed away on July 16, 2021, at the age of 98, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, William Althoff and Cecilia Althoff (Swingler); her husband Clarence J. Schmidt; her children, Don and Judy Newberry; her grandson Bradley Schmidt; and her siblings, Walter, Albert, Carl, Harold, William "Bill" Althoff, Mary Ann Mette, Helen Althoff and Esther Worman.
She is survived by: her daughters, Jean Klingler (Don) of Newton and Joyce Roedl (Mark) of Teutopolis. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.
