It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Leonard R. Greuel of Effingham, Illinois, who passed away on November 3, 2023, at the age of 95, leaving to mourn family and friends. He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Greuel and Florence Greuel (Sur); his wife Rosemary Elizabeth Deters; his great grandchild Dezarea Woods; his siblings, Ruth Stodden (Francis), Hilda Dasenbrock (Morris), Mildred Ludwig (Harry), Louis Greuel, Mary Michels (Roy), Paul Greuel and Marian Greuel; and his siblings-in-law, Kenny Flood, Cletus Deters, Luella Will (Joe) and Eileen Moon (Charles).
He is survived by: his children, Mary Jo Orme of Sigel, Carol Apke (Dale) of Effingham, Michael (Sheila) of Sigel, Kathy Syfert (Rick) of Sigel, Leanne Craig (Steve) of Charleston, Maureen Kastl (Dave) of Effingham, David Greuel (Deana Harmon) of Sigel, Thomas Greuel (Jennifer) of Sigel, Rosalee Thoele (Bill) of Teutopolis, Loralee Kelly (Ron) of Shumway, Suzie Kidd (Steve) of Millstadt, Kevin Greuel (Laura) of Sigel and Robert Greuel (LeAnn) of Sigel; his sister Margaret Flood of Jewett; and his siblings-in-law, Norma Greuel of Effingham, Dolores Will (Bernard) of Heartville, JoAnn Deters of Teutopolis and Art Deters (Betty) of Teutopolis. He is also survived by 38 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
